Temple at Night
Dimly-lit Vadakkumnathan temple is open for believers. The 9th century Advaita philosopher Adi Sankara, who established the four "madhams" in Sringeri, Puri, Dwaraka and Jyothirmath was born in Kaladi, Thrissur, Karala and supposedly spent his last days in this temple. Though Sankara had rejuvenated hinduism, casteism had grown stronger in India after Sankara's dig-vijaya.
